Joel is the former President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Hormel Foods Corporation, Inc., of Austin, MN. Hormel is a multinational manufacturer and marketer of consumer-branded food and meat products, many of which are among the best known and trusted in the food industry. Prior to his 15-year career with Hormel he worked for General Foods Corporation for 24 years. Joel has served on numerous boards, including Meredith Corporation, Ecolab, Inc., US Bancorp, Hormel Foundation, and Hamilton College.  In 2016 he earned the “Volunteer of the Decade” award from Hamilton, his alma mater.

Joel is a Vietnam veteran, having served from 1968-1970, and earned a Bronze Star. He earned his M.B.A., MA from Harvard Business School in 1967. Joel and his wife, Beth, reside in Scottsdale, AZ. They have three children and 8 grandchildren.
