Read With Us: January Book Club Selection

By Opportunity International

Happy new year, readers! Can you believe we are entering our second year of the Opportunity International Book Club? It has been so much fun to share our book recommendations with all of our fellow book lovers each month! If you aren't already signed up, make sure to do so now!

Fill out my online form.

We closed out 2018 reading one of our favorites of the year—Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo. Don't forget to join our virtual discussion of the book on Facebook or download a printable copy of discussion questions to use with your in-person book club.

Next up: a fiction novel that was named a “Best Book of the Year” in 2018 by The Washington Post, NPR, Paste, LitHub, and Real Simple and was featured as a 2018 Goodreads Choice Awards finalist for Best Fiction.

Join us this month as we read Girls Burn Brighter by Shobha Rao.

Following the stories of two young girls in India, Girls Burn Brighter highlights the challenges of poverty, the brutality of suffering, and the power of friendship. Through a compelling story, it reminds us of the importance of those closest to us and how critical it is to never lose hope.

We cannot wait to read with you!

A great way to make Book Club even more fun is to invite a friend to join you this year. They’ll get monthly reading ideas straight to their inbox, featuring books about global issues, countries around the world, and inspiring people.

Pick up a copy of Girls Burn Brighter at your favorite bookstore, or Amazon.com, or your local library. Make sure you are signed up for Book Club emails. And invite your friends to join the party, too!

FYI: This month's book covers difficult topics, so we don’t recommend it for little readers.
