I can't believe we are already in the back to school season. As the kids in my neighborhood gather their supplies, pack their backpacks and prepare for another year of learning, I can't help but remember my own education. I remember tough assignments and wise teachers. Gym class and the school musical. Laughter and reading and multiplication tables and friends. 

But this time of year also reminds me that a high-quality, accessible education is not readily available for all children around the world. 

We know that for millions of kids, school is just out of reach. And we know that without education, it is tremendously difficult to escape the cycle of poverty. 

It's why Opportunity International invests in education, equipping school proprietors to provide accessible, high-quality education to children around the world. When we invest in schools and school proprietors, we are investing in the future - but we are also investing in the community today. 

Schools hire local employees to teach, build, cook and serve. They bring in electricity, running water, paved roads and other infrastructure. They improve their communities right away, all the while educating and equipping the next generation to break free from the cycle of poverty for good.
