Don’t Miss the Chance to See Microfinance Work Firsthand in Tanzania
“It was exciting to see how quickly Opportunity is growing in Tanzania. We met so many of its inspiring clients when we visited — real people working hard to improve their lives.”
-YAO member and 2009 Insight Trip participant Anne Edwardson
On September 4-11, 2010, Young Ambassadors for Opportunity (YAO) will offer a unique opportunity to see microfinance work on the ground in Tanzania. Take part in the Tanzania Insight Trip and you will:
- Immerse yourself in the microfinance work of Opportunity, and see firsthand the hope and dignity financial access offers to clients
- Gain exposure to the economic and political environment in Tanzania
- Get acquainted with the rich culture and wonderful people of Tanzania.
- Serve the local community while learning about the day-to-day struggles of microfinance clients working their way out of poverty
This September, YAO Insight Trip participants will engage in a half-day knowledge exchange workshop with the loan officers at Opportunity Tanzania’s Arusha branch. They’ll also visit a number of Tanzanian bank branches throughout the week, gaining in-depth knowledge of the workings of microfinance on the ground. Another highlight: cap off the visit with a day-long stopover at Tarangire National Park to camp safari-style before returning home.
Making the time and investment to visit Africa is something you will never regret. Opportunity supporters can testify to the amazing experiences they’ve had on an Insight Trip. If you’ve been able to travel internationally and see microfinance firsthand, share your comments below. Why would you encourage someone to go on this trip?
