Richard ChongoCountry Director, Agriculture Finance

Richard Chongo is an international development and economic inclusion professional with over a decade of experience in rural development, financial inclusion, and humanitarian programming. His expertise spans ultra-poor graduation models, smallholder farmer support, microfinance, and social protection, all aimed at creating sustainable economic opportunities for vulnerable communities.

Since joining Opportunity International in 2010, Richard has played a pivotal role in designing and managing high-impact programs that enhance financial access, improve livelihoods, and strengthen community-based entrepreneurship. As Country Director, he leads strategic initiatives that integrate financial services, market access, and business development training to empower marginalized populations. 

Richard holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Education. He is also an Africa Board Fellow with Accion, where he contributes to strengthening governance and leadership in financial inclusion organizations.
