How One Opportunity Changed Luhavu’s Future
Poverty isn’t just about a lack of money. It’s a lack of opportunity. One loan can launch a business. One training session can double a harvest. And one opportunity often grows into another, and another.
When Luhavu fled his home in DR Congo to Uganda, he saw little hope for himself or his three daughters. Opportunity’s presence in Nakivale Refugee Settlement changed that, as his new savings group gave Luhavu a community, training, and a vision. Little by little, he and his group’s small savings grew. They built their businesses—his in metalworking. Today, his girls’ future grows brighter at school and Luhavu is helping the next generation through apprenticeships. The gifts continue to grow.
