Marissa Benner is the Senior Director of Program Management, responsible for the oversight of Opportunity International’s donor-funded grants and projects, co-leading the organizational strategy for measuring stewardship and impact, and implementing a key Corporate Social Responsibility global program in child nutrition.
Marissa has led the Program Management team since 2017. The team monitors, tracks expenses, and reports on donor projects. In addition, they track activities and deliverables across our network of partners and programs. In 2020, the team expanded to include managing, monitoring,and evaluating a corporate partner’s global child health and nutrition program across 11 countries.
Prior to leading the Program Management team, she managed Opportunity’s largest single award,a $22 million project across five countries in Africa. From 2012-2014, Marissa lived in Lilongwe, working as the Director of Donor Programs at Opportunity Bank Malawi, managing a portfolio of more than 30 donor projects, and hiring and training a team of local project managers.
Marissa originally joined Opportunity in 2010 after completing her Master’s in Business Administration in International Economic Development from Eastern University. She also has a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Messiah College. Marissa holds certifications from PRINCE2, a structured project management method and practitioner certification program, as a PRINCE2 Practitioner and Foundations in Project Management.
