Carol served as Co-Chair of Opportunity’s Board of Governors from 2017-2019, where she worked with staff and donors around the country to develop programs, communications and events to nurture and grow Opportunity’s community of supporters. She joined Opportunity as a Governor after attending her first Summit in 2014 and volunteered with staff in the Chicago office on a weekly basis for three years.
Carol demonstrates her commitment and passion for Opportunity and our clients in the developing world. She has devoted a lot of her time to Opportunity programs, events, speaking engagements and is a member of the Whittaker Legacy Society.
Prior to her retirement in 2001, Carol had a successful 24-year career with IBM in marketing, sales, and sales and product management in Chicago, Milwaukee, and San Francisco. She brings expertise in marketing, communications, revenue management, and client and employee satisfaction. Carol served as a Board Trustee for Nazareth Academy from 2008-2014, where she also chaired the Development Committee and served on the Executive Committee.
Carol has a heart for others – she was a pet therapy volunteer with the Hinsdale Humane Society for several years, visiting nursing homes and rehabilitation centers with her Golden Retriever. Since 2014, she volunteers weekly at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago as a child life volunteer, spending time with patients and families on the hematology/oncology floor. Carol has two grown daughters and resides in Hinsdale, Illinois.
