Bhahati Zimba is a seasoned agricultural finance specialist with over a decade of experience dedicated to empowering smallholder farming families in Malawi, with a special focus on women farmers. She spearheads a network of Farmer Support Agents, who she trains to take best practices into their farming communities, multiplying their impact. By championing the use of digital platforms and teaching financial literacy in communities, Bhahati has empowered thousands of women farmers to make informed financial decisions that enhance their economic resilience.  Bhahati holds a bachelor's degree in Social Studies and Community Development from Pentecostal Life University, as well as a diploma in Agriculture and Natural Resources Management from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

A woman you admire and why:

The former President Joyce Banda. She has shown immense courage in advocating for women economic empowerment. Her dedication to promoting economic empowerment and equality for women worldwide is truly commendable.

A change you’d like to see for women in the next decade:

I would love to see the women I work with able to eat three meals a day and send their children to school. I also hope for greater gender equality, with these women actively participating in decision-making.
