A Conversation with the VISA Foundation on SDG #1 – No Poverty

By Opportunity International

October 17 is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, celebrated worldwide to recognize the struggles of those living in poverty and promote dialogue amongst stakeholders to end poverty once and for all. See how Opportunity International is working alongside other industry leaders to fulfill a shared vision-no poverty.

Opportunity International CEO Atul Tandon recently sat down with Graham Macmillan, President of Visa Foundation, during Ideagen’s “17 Days of Sustainability” event. Ideagen is dedicated to helping leaders around the world discuss key global issues, and this series of conversations on our collective progress toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals did just that.

In 2015, the United Nations developed 17 Sustainable Development Goals to promote critical progress across the world. The goals are intended to accelerate innovation and bring about solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues.

On day one of “17 Days of Sustainability,” speakers tackled the enormous first goal that drives Opportunity’s work every day:

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Tandon and Macmillan discussed the latest advances towards achieving that goal and how businesses and philanthropists can come together to overcome the impact of the pandemic on global poverty through digital solutions and partnerships.
