Betty Jane Hess, is chair of Opportunity’s Board of Directors, and is welcoming our incoming CEO Vicki Escarra.
I am pleased to announce that Opportunity International has completed its executive search, and I am delighted to introduce you to our new CEO, Vicki Escarra. Vicki is an exceptional leader, bringing to Opportunity International her expertise in people and financial management, resource development, marketing and execution of business strategies.
As president and CEO of Feeding America since 2006, she led the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief nonprofit through its most significant period of advancement, building it into a $1.2 billion organization, during a time of economic stress when more Americans than ever were suffering from food insecurity.
Before entering the not-for-profit sector with Feeding America, Vicki had extensive experience in leadership positions with Delta Airlines, culminating in her position as the Chief Marketing Officer.
Vicki made the decision to resign her position with Feeding America because she felt called to chart a new path of service. Her motivation, passion and skill set uniquely fit the mission of Opportunity International — empowering millions of people to work their way out of chronic poverty, transforming their lives, their children’s futures and their communities.
As we welcome Vicki, we want to express sincere gratitude to Jon Yasuda for his tireless service and gracious leadership as Senior Vice President of Resource Development and Interim CEO over the past eight months. Jon looks forward to continuing in his leadership role as SVP of Resource Development.
We look forward with you to having Vicki on board as a transformational leader who will capture not only our hearts and minds, but the hearts and minds of all those who wish to offer opportunity to people living in poverty. Vicki will join Opportunity International on September 4th.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Opportunity International.
Betty Jane Hess
