Irene Pritzker, IDP Foundation, Honored with Global Philanthropy Award

Opportunity International congratulates Irene Pritzker, co-founder and president of the IDP Foundation, Inc., who will be honored with the Foreign Policy Association’s Global Philanthropy Award at the World Leadership Forum Dinner on Sept. 22, 2010.

The IDP Foundation is ahttp://www.opportunity.org/about/strategic-partners/strategic partner[/intlink] to Opportunity International, working with us on campaigns to promote education and educational finance for entrepreneurs who receive http://www.opportunity.org/our-work/loans/loans[/intlink] to develop schools in underserved areas.

The World Leadership Forum, which is hosted by the Foreign Policy Association and coincides with the UN General Assembly, is one of the foremost public forums on global affairs. The dinner at which Irene will receive this prestigious award will also honor H.E. Sebastián Piñera, the president of Chile.

In 2008, the IDP Foundation, Inc. was established with the mission to develop and support innovative programs devoted to improving the quality of life for people and organizations in need, particularly as it relates to poverty alleviation. It supports activities related to community involvement including, but not limited to, education, health care and medical research, and the performing arts. The IDP Foundation actively supports efforts that emphasize education on behalf of and in conjunction with those populations which face substantial risks for serious and lasting problems; i.e., the poor and working poor, girls, women, and children. Irene is also an active patron of the arts, and an advocate for cancer research, serving as a trustee for theAmerican Association for Cancer Research.

Opportunity International partners with the IDP Foundation Rising Schools Program, which is pioneering a sustainable education model that combines financial and non-financial capacity building services in support of extremely undeveloped schools in rural Ghana.
