Their Futures are at Risk
Following recent changes in the U.S. government’s foreign aid policy, Opportunity’s USAID grants were terminated on February 26, 2025. This cancellation immediately affects several Education Finance projects, including our active work in Northern Ghana (our largest award), Tanzania, and Zambia along with projects ending in the DRC, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.
As a result, we now have a $5 million funding gap. This shortfall will impact 300,000 children currently in school, who were building a pathway out of poverty through the power of education! Of this $5 million, $1.5 million is specifically for the highly marginalized and very low-income communities in Northern Ghana, where we cannot lose momentum.
Every $1,000 will help 60 children go to a good school
Impact of Your Support
Every child counts! We are determined to help these children receive a good education. The $5 million replacement funds would directly:
- Impact an estimated 300,000 children
- Include 1,000 schools in the Education Quality program
- Provide training to more than 4,000 teachers
- Mobilize up to $30 million in capital into education systems serving low-income communities
