Randy KurtzExecutive Vice President, International Programs and Capital Solutions
Randy Kurtz leads the institutional business at Opportunity International, focusing on international programs, and resource development and impact investing with corporations, foundations and governments.
Kurtz joined Opportunity in November 2018, as a proven problem-solver and market-maker with experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and expertise in strategy, finance, operations, and change management.
Kurtz spent 27 years in investment banking with Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers/Citigroup, and Credit Suisse. He was a trusted advisor to Fortune 500 boards and CEOs, managing company-transforming M&A, activist shareholder situations, capital structure/balance sheet decisions, and capital markets access. Kurtz led 47 completed M&A transactions spanning North America, Europe, Asia, and South America, ranging in size up to $10 billion.
More recently, Kurtz made a personal decision to trade his Wall Street career for a commitment to help those in need. First, he served as CEO of the Cristo Rey Network, an organization of 26 preparatory high schools for underserved urban youth. Then, he was Deputy Director and CFO of the Illinois Criminal Justice Authority, a state government agency focused on criminal justice outcomes. While at the Authority, Kurtz created the Pathway to Enterprise for Returning Citizens or PERC, a program providing ex-offenders with startup capital and entrepreneurship training.
Randy earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.
