2025 Shamrock Shuffle

Event Summary

Join Team Opportunity this spring as we take on the 2025 Shamrock Shuffle! As a team member, you will gain a community of support and become a star advocate as you invite your network to donate funds for Opportunity’s mission. The race is a St. Patrick’s Day tradition in Chicago with two distance options: an 8K (5 mile) run or a 2 mile walk.

The 8K is one of Chicago’s best races, welcoming everyone from professional athletes to beginner runners with a one-of-a-kind course that weaves its way through Chicago’s Loop, starting and finishing in Grant Park.

Supporters who opt for the 2-mile, family friendly walk will be treated to a scenic course along Chicago’s lakefront, starting and finishing in the same location as the 8K run.

The weekend will be full of inspiring moments as Opportunity staff and supporters come together to celebrate all the hard work we’ve done to help end extreme poverty!

Itinerary

Friday, March 21

Team Opportunity will meet at Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park to pick up our race day bibs and other Shamrock Shuffle swag on Friday. A Saturday pickup will be available for racers, as well.

Sunday, March 23

Race day! Gather with Team Opportunity prior to the start of the event for words of encouragement and inspiration. Team leaders will be present for runners and walkers. After the race, join us for a brunch with your teammates to celebrate the impact you have made through your fundraising.

Physical Preparation

Whether you choose the 8K run or the 2-mile walk, we will provide you with the necessary training program and helpful tips to ensure you are ready to take on your challenge.

Cost

Each participant is responsible for covering their event entry fee. The entry fee for the 8K Run ranges from $46 - $71, increasing as the race approaches. The entry fee for the 2-Mile Walk is $41. Reserve your spot for the race at shamrockshuffle.com.

Why We're Running & Walking

Your efforts will power life-changing transformations for women in Malawi living on less than $1 per day. Every $2,000 raised will change the live of 1 woman and her family as she enters Opportunity’s program and starts a business, earns an income, feeds her family, and sends her children to school. Each participant will set their own fundraising goal based on how many lives they want to impact. Team Opportunity aims to collectively help five families break the cycle of generational poverty! Just as these women are equipped with training and support to achieve their goals, you will receive fundraising coaching, team support, resource toolkits, and the platform to share your story.
