Seeing the Real Rwanda

Known as “the land of a thousand hills,” Rwanda is located in the heart of Africa and is home to spectacular volcanoes, blue lakes, tropical forests and rolling green hills. After the 1994
genocide left over one million people dead and countless exiled, the people of Rwanda began picking up the pieces of their broken nation, returning to their fields and businesses and working to support their families.

Travel to Rwanda today to be inspired by the Rwandans who are working to reconcile and share common aspirations.

Ninety percent of Rwandans are engaged in subsistence agriculture. Families that rely on farming for their primary source of income experience

the highest levels of poverty, often struggling to provide food for their own children. Opportunity Rwanda has made great strides toward the expansion of its agricultural lending portfolio. In 2013, Opportunity Rwanda scaled up agricultural lending to serve more than 15,000 clients with loans. Our bank is now increasing its reach to serve dairy and bean farmers in addition to coffee, potato, maize and rice producers.

Travel with us to witness this exciting time at Opportunity Rwanda. See Rwandans overcoming poverty with the assistance of financial education, skills training and loans, making it possible for them to build better futures for themselves and their children.
