International Women's Day

Invest in women to accelerate their progress out of poverty.

March 8 is International Women’s Day—a day to celebrate their successes and advance the financial services, training, and support that will empower them to work their way out of poverty and into a better tomorrow.

RISE

Mothers in Malawi living in desperate poverty have hope for the first time, thanks to Opportunity’s curated two-year program that focuses on their specific needs to break free from poverty. See how we’re bringing radical hope to the most vulnerable women in these rural villages so they can feed their families, start a business, send their children to school, and change their futures forever.

EDUCATE

A woman’s path out of poverty starts with an investment in her education. Opportunity has helped 13 million students ensure they can get into a good school and stay there. Learn how we’re partnering with funders like USAID CATALYZE to tackle challenging contexts around the world where cultural constraints systemically deny girls and women equal access to educational, social, and economic opportunities.

It’s one thing to develop financial services for women—it’s another thing to build the trust required among women to ensure they feel safe to adopt those services. With local partners in India, Opportunity is training women to run centers where locals can visit to make banking transactions. These women serve vital roles as “business consultant (BC) agents” in their communities. Hear Shishu's story now .
