Steve LaveyChief Financial Officer
Steve Lavey joined Opportunity International in 2013 as Chief Financial Officer, where he is responsible for directing the global finance and administration functions. Steve brings over 25 years of financial management, corporate finance, capital raising and accounting experience, having served as the Chief Financial Officer for several publicly-traded companies and private equity-backed companies.
Most recently, Steve was lead partner at Northlight Partners LLC, a consulting firm specializing in strategic finance and operations consulting. He was a co-founder and the EVP-CFO of Envestnet Asset Management, a now publicly-traded wealth management investment firm in Chicago. Earlier, Steve served as VP-CFO and a member of the board of directors at American Disposal Services, Inc., a publicly-traded waste services consolidator where he helped complete 110 acquisitions as the company grew to $240 million in revenues. Steve has also served as the contract CFO for Newdea, a private equity-backed philanthropic technology firm in Denver connecting large global charities and global wealth management firms who have donors looking to invest in projects. Steve began his career as a banker with Bank of America and Continental Bank and prior to that served five years at a Big Six public accounting firm.
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from the University of Michigan, and a MBA in finance and corporate strategy from the University of Michigan’s Ross Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and is a registered CPA in Illinois. He and his wife are active in the community in a number of charities.
